I’m a Nerd with a camera who loves a great story.

As a kid, there’s a good chance you’d find me in the middle of my bedroom floor, splayed out in every direction with a dozen or so books at my disposal. Between my personal collection and the school’s generous library policy, I racked up more Accelerated Reader points and ate through more Pizza Hut pizza rewards than any kid my age probably should have, but that’s what happens when the search for the next great adventure never ceases.

Now that I’m older, my obsession with stories still drives a voracious appetite for books, but I’m finding more and more enjoyment in the stories that play out in front of my eyes every day. They take place in schools and churches, in supermarkets, and office buildings. They are the stories of real people making a life for themselves as best as they know how.

I’ve learned something from this: the world is eagerly awaiting your story. You might not think so at the moment, but it’s true. Yes, I’ll grant you that the world is a big place and that we’re only a small part of it, but you’re more important than you think.

The thing is, the world needs love stories like yours. The world needs to know that two people who make mistakes but who love each other with their whole being can make it. The world needs to know that even when all hell breaks loose and everything is falling apart, love like yours never will because that’s exactly what love does. The world needs to know the abounding joy that results from marrying your soul mate, because the world isn’t always a nice place, and sometimes we need a reminder that there is good if we just know where to look.

That’s where we begin. While your wedding certainly isn’t the beginning of your story, nor the end, it is a testament of the totally original, unforgettable love story that’s playing out in front of our eyes. It’s a tribute to your authenticity and humanity. It’s a joyous celebration of two people hitching their wagons together for eternity in the presence of those they love most. See, I believe in weddings. Not as Pinterest fodder, or opportunities to outspend or outshine other people, but as honest-to-God commitments that life is better when you can share it with someone you love.

MY STORY

Growing up the son of an Air force man I spent my childhood traveling the world before my family settled down in the heartland of Indiana. In 2013, after earning my MA in Communications from Indiana University I abandoned the academic track to make a difference in the lives of kids who attend Camp Tecumseh YMCA. Somewhere along the line I picked up a camera, started pointing it at things, and discovered a voice I never knew existed.

Although I’m still learning how to be adult, and can’t quite wrap my head around the logistics of bathroom renovation, I make up for it with a heart to serve others and an unquenchable desire to learn. I cook a mean steak, read voraciously, listen to heavy metal at loud volumes, and enjoy examining the implications of our 21st century media lives. My wife Mel and daughter Lilia light up my life and provide me with more joy and fulfillment than any man could ever ask for.
